Guidebook
Most people think of Saudi Arabia as merely a land of endless deserts of sand and rock. While there certainly is plenty of that, the kingdom boasts a wealth of diverse terrains and climates beyond these stereotypical images. This concise guidebook showcases 20 hikes from 8 distinct regions, unveiling strikingly different facets of Saudi Arabia ranging from amazingly beautiful desert landscapes to thick Juniper tree forests and wadis that you can swim in.
The hikes featured in this guidebook are found around Riyadh, Abha, Najran, Bisha, Taif, Medina, Al-Ula, and Tabuk, and vary in length from a few hours to full-day excursions. They reveal stunning cliffs, desert plains with surreal rock formations, otherworldly volcanic landscapes, lush canyons with streams and water pools, green hills and rugged mountain ranges, woodlands of the coastal fog ecoregion, and intriguing historic sites. Moreover, the guide provides information about the kingdom’s “new” highest peak, alongside places linked to the Exodus, including the mountain some identify as the “Real Mount Sinai”.
This is the first edition of what is planned to be an annual publication with new hikes added in each subsequent issue.
