Wadi al-Deesah - Rock formations, stream, lush vegetation
The most famous attraction around Tabuk is probably Wadi al-Deesah (Wadi al-Disah). This name refers to an area in which the main place of interest is a lush canyon with a stream, known as Wadi Qaraqir or Wadi Dama. It is a very picturesque place, featuring a stream flowing through it, towering rock formations, and lush vegetation. The path running through the wadi isn’t really a hiking trail, but a 4WD track that connects the main roads on the north and south. Locals with suitable vehicles use it to make a shortcut. Most tourists visiting the site also have 4WD vehicles and locals wait at the end of the asphalt and offer rides with their off-road vehicles for those who don’t have their own. For most, Wadi al-Deesah is a place to have a picturesque drive and a picnic. Still, it is absolutely worth the visit and you can walk the wadi for a while and then return the same way. It is 7 kilometers to the end of the scenic part of the wadi on very fine, soft sand. An option is to take the service of a local with a 4WD vehicle (SAR 200) and go with him to the end of the wadi and then return on foot.
Campfires and camping within the wadi are prohibited, and rangers keep an eye on visitors.
