Wadi Lajab - The wettest place in Saudi Arabia
Wadi Lajab is in Jizan (Jazan) Province, approximately 130 kilometers from Jizan city and 170-190 kilometers from Abha. Both cities serve as convenient bases for organizing a day-trip to Wadi Lajab, one of the most striking sites in Saudi Arabia: it is possibly the wettest place, but definitely one of the wettest. It is a narrow wadi, or canyon, with two branches and walls towering up to 300 meters. Each branch hosts a flowing stream, complemented by numerous ponds, small waterfalls, tall trees, and abundant lush vegetation. To thoroughly explore and savor the wonders of Wadi Lajab, prepare to clamber over rocks and swim alongside fish in pools. So have your swimming gear on, and leave a change of dry clothes and a towel in the car. Consider bringing waterproof bags, or carry only essential items that you can swim with. Visiting Wadi Lajab is a full-day excursion, especially factoring in the drive.
